TOP 6 REASONS TO VISIT the ANGUS GLENS
(not including GOLF!) |
• Hiking and Walking : Glen Isla, Glen Clova
Glen Esk, Glen Prosen, Glen Lethnot and Glen Shee to the
west provide The most fantastic walking routes both high
and lower level as highlighted by the success of the
annual Angus and the Glens Walking Festival
• Long Distance Walking: In this area of north east
Scotland you will discover the only circular long distance
walking route the Cateran Trail, a 64 mile route which
follows the ancient cattle drovers trail. The Glens routes
form a natural eastward progression from the Cateran trail
which itself at Glenshee is only a days’ walk from the end
of the national long distance route the ‘Rob Roy Way’ at
Pitlochry.
• Munros: The area boasts 14 Munros (Scottish hills over
3000ft) with stunning views. This fact has special
significance because the family estate of Sir High Munro
(who originally tabulated all these peaks) is situated
just outside Kirriemuir in Angus.
• History These glens are steeped in history, in fact
Angus is known as ‘The Birthplace of Scotland’ There are
many Scottish castles and you can take advantage of
ancestral tourism in the area and find your Scottish roots
using the genealogy centres. We offer historical hill
walks.

provide it! Having a wonderful coastline as well as hills
and mountains means the Angus area offers a fantastic
range of adventure activities; climbing, abseiling, gorge
adventure, canyoning, surfing, mountain biking,
coasteering, sea kayaking, to name a few. For winter
sports visit our local Glenshee Ski Centre
• Wildlife The Angus Glens have a superb natural heritage;
roe deer, red deer, ptarmigan, red squirrels, peregrines,
sparrow hawks and buzzards are some of the local
residents. You may catch sight of the golden eagle or the
